In 1998 Ana Hernandez as part of the Cali Zoo staff developed the first master plan for the zoological park. The plan focused on improving the entry sequence for the Zoo, adding a new parking lot, developing offices to house many zoo departments, a new food court, auditorium and an animal exhibit. Each will authentically represent the rich biodiversity of Colombia. Here, the visitor can experience large scale diversity of plants and animals on a single site.
Work to implement the master plan began in 1998, with the Administration Building and was competed in 2004 with the opening of the Biodiversity Exhibit.
